Become A Driving Instructor
Train through the iGo Standard Instructor Package (iGoSIP) and develop the professional driving and instructional skills required to progress through ADI Parts 1, 2 and 3. The programme is designed to guide trainees through each stage of the qualification process while helping them build the high driving standards, observation skills and teaching techniques expected of a professional instructor.
Throughout the training you will learn how to structure effective driving lessons, support pupils as they develop their skills and manage risk safely during lessons. By the time you reach qualification stage, you will have developed the confidence, knowledge and practical teaching ability needed to begin a rewarding and successful career as a driving instructor.
Part 3 and Standards Check Support
Focused coaching designed to help both trainee and qualified driving instructors strengthen the skills assessed during the ADI Part 3 test and the DVSA Standards Check. Sessions concentrate on lesson structure, risk management and the use of client-centred learning so instructors can demonstrate safe, well organised and professional instruction during assessments.
Coaching also explores questioning techniques, feedback and reflective learning so pupils are encouraged to recognise, decide and act for themselves. This ensures instructors deliver confident, structured lessons that clearly show the professional teaching standards examiners are looking for. This approach helps instructors feel confident when delivering lessons in real assessments.
Real Trainers, Real Instructors, Real Careers
Gordon’s Story
Co-Owner and Head of In-car Training
“I founded iGo Driving School on the Wirral over fifteen years ago and have spent much of that time training and developing driving instructors. Over the years I’ve worked with many trainees, helping them build the high driving standards, observation skills and teaching ability needed to succeed in the profession. I particularly enjoy working with new instructors as they progress through their training and begin developing the confidence and instructional skills required to deliver safe, structured driving lessons.”
Tim’s Story
Co-Owner & Head of Online Coaching
“My route into instructor training started while organising driving lessons for the eldest of my four daughters. Gordon jokingly suggested it might be cheaper if I became a driving instructor myself. The comment planted a seed, and before long I decided to take the plunge. After qualifying as an ADI, I began specialising in instructor development, providing coaching and support to help PDIs and ADIs prepare for Part 3 tests and DVSA Standards Checks. My focus is on helping instructors develop clear lesson structure, effective coaching techniques and the confidence to perform at their best during assessments.”
James’s Story
From Trainee to Fully Qualified ADI
“I completed my instructor training through iGo and have now been working as a qualified ADI for the past three years. Throughout the process the guidance from the team, particularly Tim and Gordon, was invaluable. The learning resources for Part 1 were extremely helpful, and the practical training for Part 2 helped me develop the high driving standard expected of an instructor. For Part 3, the client-centred learning approach used by iGo really helped me understand how to structure lessons and develop my teaching skills. Even after qualifying, the team has continued to provide advice and encouragement as I’ve grown in confidence as an instructor.”
